From Mayschoss train station you cross the street and walk between the two separate buildings of the ‚Winzergenossenschaft’ (the winegrowers cooperative). Then you follow Bungertstrasse /Tiergartenstrasse to the western end of the village where you pick up the Trail in the direction of Ahrweiler.
After a few meters you have a breathtaking view of the valley which accompanies the hiker most of the way. The Michaelishof is directly on the Trail. With its big garden terrace overlooking the valley it invites you to take a break here.
The path continues with a view of the Saffenburg which is the impressive ruin of the oldest fortification along the Ahr. After some steep steps, our path leads us through the vineyard 'Recher Herrenberg’ to Rech train station.
Tip This part of the Trail between Mayschoss and Rech shows in particular the diverse natural landscape and how it changes from steep slopes, rocks, woods and the wildly romantic Ahr river that is especially impressive here. We highly recommend it !
